Good Eats – Fager’s Island
Fager’s Island has been an Ocean City staple since 1975 and offers something for everyone. Fager’s is located on the bay at 60th Street and offers some of the best views and sunsets anywhere in Ocean City. Fager’s started as a small Key West style beach bar and has evolved into one of the finest dining establishments in Ocean City, MD.
Fager’s Island offers lite-fare dining all day from eleven o’clock until close throughout their front dining room, deck and bar areas. The lite-fare menu includes extensive appetizers, soups, salads, raw bar (seasonal), burgers, specialty sandwiches and a kids menu. Some of my favorites include the marinated chicken salad, chicken quesadilla and the jerk chicken BLT.
Fager’s Island offers fine-dining in their beautiful back dining room every evening starting at 5:00. The extensive menu includes appetizers, soups, salads, main courses and desserts. The prime rib is an Ocean City staple and not to be missed (be sure to get it blackened if you like spicy food). The crab cakes are very good and true Maryland style. They also do a nightly fish feature that I usually get if I don’t get the prime rib. The lemon lust pie very well may be the best desert in Ocean City.
Fager’s does night life as well as anyone in town. They typically feature a live band inside and a DJ outside throughout the summer season and on weekends in the off-season. Their Monday deck parties during the season are legendary and a great time if you are in town. Fager’s also has a beach area with fire-pits and palm trees that is a great place to kick-back, relax and enjoy the beautiful views.
A majority of Fager’s Island staff has been with them for a long time. As a result, the food and service are always good. Fager’s Island is open year round and you can learn more on their website. Enjoy!
